Bubble Pie

The calendar at my desk still says it’s February. I know it’s not February because I seem to be up an hour early for daylight savings time. Is there a way to opt out of daylight savings? I think Brendan has figured out how to get on that list.

The good news is that while my little man is awake, we’re filling our days with him first – everything else second. At least it’s good news until everything else catches up. I still have a month before taxes are due, right?

Here are five things I don’t want to forget:

1. Going to the duck pond to feed the ducks, only to find a big sign that said, “No feeding the ducks.” Poor ducks. Turned out it was way more fun to chase the birds, and throw rocks in the pond. Again, poor ducks.

2. Leaving daycare on Friday, Brendan’s friend Alice (the one from this video) was crying as we left school. We got half way down the hall and Brendan stopped, looked up at me, and said, “Alice sad.”. Then he turned around to go back to the class room because he wanted to make sure she was okay. That is all I could ever ask for of my son.

3. This weekend Daddy and Brendan and I played hide and seek. There were hushed giggles as we hid together – and squeals and hugs as we found each other. It was awesome.

4. “Whadees?”, translated to, “What’s this?”. It’s his new favorite phrase. His little finger points and he wants to know about everything he sees.

5. Bubbles and more bubbles.

Uncle Brian even surprised us with a way to fill our whole back yard with them.

While we were eating family dinner that night and talking about our day, Brendan kept telling us, “Bubble Pie”. We were confused until we realized that when we were playing with bubbles they kept going, ‘up high’, or ‘uphigh’ – or even better, just ‘bubble pie.’

You should try some bubble pie. It’s delicious.
