Is it Gay Pride Thursday? Nope! It’s the imagination parade at Brendan’s school! They have one every year, and every year I have dragged Lisa over to watch all the cute kids… even before she had a daughter there. It was so exciting to be going this year especially to watch our very own peanut. Rob came down for a meeting that just happened to be scheduled right before the parade (it was actually our first meeting together in 10 years… but that’s another story.)
The theme of the parade this year was colors, and each class room had a color. The babies got to be rainbows. We supplied the clothing, and the teachers made the festive hat. Mommy and Daddy decided to show their support and spirit by also wearing rainbow gear. I had gotten Rob a pair of rainbow socks and figured he would wear them subtly under his jeans – but before we went to the parade he said he had to go ‘change’ and came out wearing a pair of shorts and the rainbow socks hiked all the way up. I love that man. I explained to Brendan last night that yes, we would probably be the only other parents wearing rainbows, and that yes, we would continue to embarrass him this way for years to come. I did however, shame Lisa into wearing yellow to match her daughters class too. Yay for being festive!! The teachers did a great job – Charlie’s yellow class were suns, there were blue clouds, brown mountains, orange pumpkins and black spiders. Loved it. The head of the center even wore a rainbow colored wig. Brendan got to be right in front with one of the older kids who is about to move out of the class room. I think it makes him look extra tiny, even though when I first saw the cart pull out of the door, I didn’t recognize my big boy sitting up by himself.
