More Firsts

Brendan hadn’t been sleeping very well, and we thought he was still getting over being sick, but turns out he was working on project tooth! On the fist day of February, the first tooth finally popped through. Grandma and Grandpa found it after an uncharacteristically sad afternoon. You can’t see it very well yet (otherwise there would be hundreds of pictures posted below) but you sure can feel that sharp little tooth! I think there might even be two in there. For some reason this milestone really got me. I can’t even imagine that perfect little smile full of teeth, but I’m also sure that somehow it will end up filling me with even more joy and happiness.

He is also getting close to crawling. He wants to do it. There are things he needs to grab. And I love this phase where it looks like instead of crawling, he might just decide to fly instead. Who knows, maybe he will.

All this extra activity has turned this little guy into a hungry hippo! One day Brendan decided that his bottles weren’t big enough, and his snacks weren’t filling enough. We are happy to oblige, but apparently his hunger does not extend to any green vegetables. At least I can report that his disgust wasn’t just for my cooking – green veggies are just not acceptable right now. I tried the spinach/potato baby food jar and it was a definite no.

We are also pretty sure that his first word is going to be ‘puppy’. We ask, ‘where is mama?’ he’s not sure. We ask, ‘where is dada?’ he’s not sure. We ask, ‘where is the puppy?’ and he looks right over at Chelsea. His little face lights up whenever she enters the room.

One more video – and I haven’t had to do this in a long time, but this one comes with a HUGE grandma alert. I realized this morning that I didn’t have any videos of Brendan rolling back and forth. Now I do.
