First Carol Party

For as long as I’ve been alive, and even before I was born, my parents have had an annual Christmas Party. There used to be more than one – in fact for a while there were three, because we couldn’t fit everyone in the house at the same time. But thankfully, we’ve settled on one party per year, and it’s always on the first Saturday of December. It’s an old fashioned party with singing, eating, reading the Christmas story – there are games and prizes and crafts – and each year my Mom makes way too many fancy desserts for everyone to enjoy after the potluck dinner.

Needless to say, this year was even more fun. The four Gianino’s came down early to help. Then Brendan made his appearance at the party as the littlest Santa, and charmed everyone with his smiles and good nature. He loved the singing and the ringing of the bells – and after laughing about it for a little, he settled in for a nap. He woke up just in time for Grandma to ask if she could give him a taste of dessert…NO Grandma!!! Maybe next year. He sure was interested in the fudge though, we could be in trouble.

On the drive home Rob and I both saw the biggest, brightest shooting star ever. I started to think of a wish, and then realized that everything I had always wished for was already in the car with me.

P.S. The red shoes he is wearing with the overalls were mine when I was little.
