We were excited for today because it was Brendan’s two week check-up! I had been looking at some of the recent pictures, and was a bit appalled at my appearance. So I decided to go all out and brush my hair and stuff, rather than risk my son not being able to recognize me with my hair down. Plus, it’s always nice to look respectable for a doctors appointment. Of course when we started to leave, the Captain decided he needed to eat… and then get a diaper change, so we barely made it in time. Then when I went to check in, they told me that the appointment is tomorrow. Which, when I think about it, really makes a lot of sense seeing as how tomorrow is when he is actually 2 weeks old.
So anyway…. we decided not to waste our presentable selves, and had lunch at Panera Bread. I managed to get a couple more vegetables into my system too, so it was a good thing all in all.
We had another incredibly nice thing happen. We were given an envelope by a woman who I think might be the head of housekeeping here at the hotel. On the front it said, ‘For the proud parents & baby’. We opened it to find many nice signatures – and they had even taken up a small cash collection for us. I burst into tears. Honestly, the people in Iowa are so nice that we could totally think about moving here. Plus they have so much delicious ice cream….
